William (Bill) Mark is a lead examiner in the Supervision and Regulation Department at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. With more than 30 years of experience in banking supervision, Bill has supervised banks and bank holding companies of varying sizes and complexities, ranging from small community banks to large domestic and foreign multinational banking organizations. He led the Federal Reserve System’s Private Equity Merchant Banking Knowledge Center, which provided analysis, education, and supervision. Bill is a System instructor, sharing knowledge with the Fed’s examiner corps and developing the next generation of instructors and trainers. He is also the principal architect of the annual interagency Community Bankers Symposium at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. Bill has authored and coauthored articles for Community Banking Connections on various topics, and he contributes to several of the Chicago Fed’s Fed Letters and blogs. Bill has an M.B.A. from Loyola University Chicago and a B.S. in aeronautical and astronautical engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
